Tragic Demise - Gagan Chadha( '94 Pilani)

Posted By Administration, Tuesday, March 26, 2013
BITSAA is sad to announce to sudden demise of Gagan Chadha, 94 batch BITS Pilani. He was swept away by the currents at the Jim Corbett National Park during a company event. Gagan was 36 and is survived by his wife and a 1 year old son.

Gagan co-founded Value First which grew to become multicrore company. Gagan was also a truly passionate BITSian and was an active member of the BITS Spark initiative.

Some of the things he actively supported were:

  • Mentored more than half a dozen teams for New Venture Creation course
  • Invested in a bunch of young BITSian companies
  • Hosted a Spark Mentors workshop at his office

Nature has it's treacherous ways and has taken away such an amazing guy at such an young age! Let's all take a moment to remember Gagan and pray for his family.

" This is really tragic news. I came to know of it couple days back. Gagan was my batchmate and a very good friend of mine. He was always happy, always smiling and super-friendly guy. He spread happiness whereever he was. It is one of the most shocking thing for all of us who have known him personally. Our hearts and prayers go out to him and his family" - Amit Khetan

"This is indeed tragic. I knew Gagan as a very special dc (discipline senior) who was instrumental in not just keeping Technoeta (ET's APOGEE exhibition) alive but also inspiring us to continue despite being one of the smallest groups on campus !From the messages here - it is clear he is leaving a legacy behind! It is extremely important for us at spark to acknowledge an entrepreneur role model and his impact on us BITSians. Rest in Peace Gagan!
" - Kannan Palaniswamy

"He was a man with a big heart and with a deep passion to helping entrepreneurs. I still remember him calling me in the middle of the night, begging us to set up a formal fund so that he could put in more money at one go! He was always ready to come forward and help BITSAA in any way he could"  - Rishabh Kaul

"Very saddened to hear about Gagan. Reading all the notes from those of you who knew him well, he seems like an embodiment of all that we want to see in BITSian entrepreneurs - compassionate, giving and a risk taker with great leadership skills. Early support from folks like Gagan was instrumental in getting BITS Spark off the ground and we cannot underestimate the value of such contribution when you are trying to start something new with an ambitious goal. I met Gagan at least once during my meets in Delhi and he struck me as a soft spoken and friendly soul. I wish I had more opportunities to get to know him. Please pass on our condolences to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. "- Raju Reddy
